Here's our most recent reader submission, this time from Nakahara Chuuya. It's a splendid review of Jujutsu Kaisen: personally, I hadn't seen the series and I actually got the draft of this post a while back but I got distracted because it persuaded me to watch the damn thing! Maybe you'll like it too?
Enjoy! - Shiota Nagisa

REVIEW OF JUJUTSU KAISEN
With the series just dropping on Netflix and a movie hitting theatres at the end of this year, here is why Jujutsu Kaisen should absolutely be next on your watchlist.

Jujutsu Kaisen centres around the life of the protagonist, Itadori Yuuji, an otherwise normal High School boy who now finds himself in the world of evil curses and sorcerers. We love the diverse cast of characters, featuring fan-favourite blue-eyed sorcerer, Gojo Satoru, and many strong and well-written female characters, including Kugisaki Nobara and Zen’in Maki.

While the show does start slow, it spares no detail in establishing the world and the details of sorcerer society, it’s hierarchies and its members. Starting off with classic villains of the week and progressing forward as we uncover the plot of the main antagonist and his allies, the evil sorcerer, Getou Suguru, Jujutsu Kaisen is an action-packed anime with beautiful animation, courtesy of MAPPA Studios. MAPPA spares no expense in the fight sequences, making them as fluid and dynamic as one might imagine in the world of sorcery and curses.

It’s definitely a bingeable series, what more with the anime only covering the first few arcs of the manga. The manga picks up and steamrolls straight into the main plot, and only gets more exciting by the chapter. It all builds up to a big reveal about the villain, which is entirely satisfying to arrive at. The movie covers the short prequel series, featuring beloved characters Maki Zen’in, Inumaki Toge and Panda, as well as a new character, Okkotsu Yuuta.

If you like action, supernatural themes, mixed with classic Shonen feel-goodness, Jujutsu Kaisen is the perfect series for you. It has compelling characters, a classic evil villain, and also is not at all stingy in building up its plot for you to sink your teeth into.
